The PitchVision 'sensor-mats' have been designed to Last anywhere up to 1,000,000 impacts. In a recent test we used 2 bowling machines running day and night to deliver 350,000 balls (that’s 58,333 overs!) without the sensors breaking down. In fact, try as we might, we’ve not actually been able to break one yet.
...and Yes, players can walk/jump/run on the sensors – they’re made for it!
In fact the system is alot like any other piece of sports equipment you value: Treat it well and it will last a long time; Treat it badly and it won’t.
When we talk about ‘product care’ we often draw a parallel with other cricket technologies that are used in and around cricket nets– such as Bowling Machines and Laptops and Cameras. For example you wouldn’t leave a bowling machine standing in the rain; don’t leave sensors in the rain either. So in most cases just take normal precautions and apply common sense care rules.
Of Course PitchVision does have some specific care requirements which are detailed in our User Guide – the ‘golden rules’ that apply in all cases are as follows: • Do not crease the sensors • Do not fold the sensors – always gently roll using the rollers provided • Do not puncture • Do not wear spikes unless the Mats are specifically labelled ‘spike proof’ • Avoid twisting cables • Ensure the bowling crease mat is firmly in place and doesn’t slip (*very important for safety) • Don’t lay the Pitch sensor on a damp or wet surface. • Don’t use the system in the rain • Pack away carefully and store in a dry place
2. Does PitchVision change the way the ball bounces?
No. The sensor mat is so thin that the ball’s energy transfers very efficiently to the pitch underneath it and does not reduce the bounce. The sensor also has a slightly rough surface so that the ball grips truly and does not skid or slide through. The pitch sensor is coloured green to blend in with its environment and not draw attention to itself. Most players using the system for the first time will be slightly ‘conscious’ of the sensor mat for the first minute but generally forget it is there altogether within 3-4 balls.
Surfaces: The pitch sensor will work well on any firm surface – indoor or outdoor. As a general rule of thumb, the firmer the surface the better, however a well rolled turf pitch will also be suitable. Sensor performance and the response of the ball (i.e. bounce) will be affected on soft turf or soft grass pitches or damp pitches.
Ball Types: has been specially designed and tuned to be used with Cricket Balls and Bowling Machine Balls only. We cannot guarantee the performance of Tennis balls and plastic training balls but these may sometimes work on very firm surfaces.
3. Can PitchVision be used outdoors?
Surfaces: The pitch sensor will work well on any firm surface – indoor or outdoor. As a general rule of thumb, the firmer the surface the better, however a well rolled turf pitch will also be suitable. Sensor performance and the response of the ball (i.e. bounce) will be affected on soft turf or soft grass pitches or damp pitches.
Ball Types: has been specially designed and tuned to be used with Cricket Balls and Bowling Machine Balls only. We cannot guarantee the performance of Tennis balls and plastic training balls but these may sometimes work on very firm surfaces.
Use on Windy Days: If any hanging/ wall sensors is being used outdoors care should be taken to ensure that the weather is calm with little breeze. In windy conditions the hanging sensor can act as a ‘sail’ –catching the wind and billowing. This can put significant stress on the net structure and could in extreme cases lead to damage of the net, sensor and injury to those around. Please exercise caution in this regard.
4. How is PitchVision Stored?
Sensors are Folded /Rolled and packed neatly into Wheelie Bags. There is also a special Laptop bag for cables and Leads etc
The best way to maintain the sensors when storing them is to follow some simple rules: • Always use the folding foams provided • Ensure the there are no creases when folding/folded • Once folded store in the Wheelie bag or flat: do not stand on end • Store in a dry area, do not stack anything on top
5. How much does PitchVision weigh?
6. How easy is PitchVision to transport?
The sensors sets pack away to 1 to 3 wheelie bags depending on exactly what mix of Sensors you have:
Product
PV-Solo PV-Solo+ PV-Club PV-Premium
Wheelie Bags
1 1 2 3
Total Weight
18kg 25kg 42kg 72kg
• The Pitch Sensor Wheelie bag measures 75cm wide x 25cm tall x 2.10m long • The Hanging Sensor Wheelie Bags measures 55cm wide 25cm tall x 2.10m long
Each wheelie bag comes with wheels, hand straps and a strong steel base frame meaning transporting from Club rooms to nets, or to store room is a simple task requiring just 1 individual. Lifting and carrying generally requires 2 people.
For transport over long distances the length of the bags means that only 1 bag will fit into a standard car - transport of 2-3 bags therefore requires a large car, roof racks, trailer or small Van.
7. How long does it take to set PitchVision up?
Setting up PitchVision generally takes no more than 10minutes from start to finish.
If your venue already has the sensors in place, then set takes only as long as it takes to turn on your laptop and log in.
Like anything new, the first few times you set up will take a little longer than when you are familiar with the process. We provide a very detailed User Manual to help guide new users through the process step by step.
8. How accurate is PitchVision?
PitchVision is arguably the most accurate cricket data collection system available. This is because the system uses specific impact information not calculations or estimations: The feedback generated is based on the exact points of impact. PitchVision has also been extensively tested & calibrated against Radar-Guns and Bowling Machines and is generally more accurate at measuring bowler pace than either.
We certainly don’t claim PitchVision is infallible – far from it - but our sensors are generally 94-99% accurate.

Publishing a course is not only an opportunity to supplement your coaching revenue streams, but also an opportunity to promote your own coaching services.
FAQ:
Q. Do I have to set up the course myself? A. Yes and No – that is, yes you must prepare the content & materials yourself. If you are a Freelance Coach we will help you upload your course and put it in the right structure. If you qualify as an Elite or Senior coach we will also provide you with significant editorial assistance.
Q. How do I make a course? A. Typically a course will be any mixture of written word articles, diagrams, video, audio, photographs etc- there is no fixed formula – it all depends on what information you are trying to get across and the time you spend on preparing it. If you look at the existing courses on PitchVision Academy you will see the kind of formats that are used.
Q. How big/long does my course/s have to be? A. There is no perfect size. You could prepare ‘mini’ courses that are sold very cheaply, or long comprehensive courses that that justify a higher price. There are many different types of cricketers, each looking for different things: you can be sure your course will find its particular niche.
Q. What price will the course be sold for? A. The price of each course is determined by you It will be based on what you believe the course is worth and what price you feel is affordable to your target students. We can provide you some advice on pricing if you need it.
Q. Does it cost anything to post my courses on PitchVision Academy A. No, but PitchVision Academy retains a small administration fee on each Course sold
Q. How do I get paid for my Course/s A. The students pay by Paypal, and all Course purchases go into a holding account held by miSport (the company behind PitchVision). miSport distribute your funds directly to your bank account at the end of each month and email you a statement detailing each purchase made
Q. How will I know if one of my courses has been purchased? A. PitchVision Academy has an automatic notification system that will send you an email the moment a purchase has been made.
Q. How do I apply to join the panel / have a freelance course published? A. Its very easy indeed. Just email DirectorofCoaching@PitchVision.com and provide
