Job Description:

We are currently seeking an up-and-coming magazine designer to lead the art department at the world’s no.1 cricket magazine.

Responsibilities:

This will be YOUR magazine. As such the role means stepping up to oversee the overall look of the magazine, making it vibrant, fresh, and smart for a sophisticated reader. In this, you will also serve as the magazine’s principal designer.

As Art Director, you will work alongside the Head of Editorial Planning & Production, under the overall direction of the Managing Director. The role will mean managing workflow, overseeing budgets and designing all print and digital aspects of the business’ output. The job will involve commissioning photography and illustration, hiring and managing staff, interns and freelancers as needed. You will also be part of all matters relating to the design of the magazine from active involvement in brainstorming ideas to commissioning, plus liaising with illustrators and photographers. 

The wider remit will mean ensuring that the magazine's overall brand - including its website, digital magazine and other digital products - has a consistent visual presentation.

Desired Skills and Experience:

The candidate will be creative with a finely tuned attention to detail and able to work to multiple deadlines. A keen interest in sport - ideally cricket. Excellence in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is crucial, as is knowledge of the rest of the Adobe suite. Experience in creating custom-built iPad magazines is again desirable. 

The ideal person for this role will be a member of a current newsstand magazine art department with a burgeoning reputation as a designer.
