CRICKET JOBS: Digital Content Editor, Recreational - ECB (UK)

Job Summary - the Digital Content Editor (Recreational) will be responsible for delivering high quality news, features and reporting (audio, video and copy) across the recreational game to enhance all ECB digital channels and grow the reach of the sport. This person will work to enhance the quality, timing and engagement of all recreational cricket content. Alongside this they will be responsible for producing and delivering content from other International teams.
Role Context/Organisation Structure this role sits within the Digital Team and reports to the Digital Content Manager. This is a new position and will play a key role in achieving the four pillars of the digital strategy - Product Excellence, Best in Class Content Production, Growing Revenues Responsibly and Growing our Reach.
Facts and Figures ECB’s annual content output equates to 3,000+ videos and 5,000 pages, with more than 50 million page views across its main website. ECB already has a large social media community with 1.8m followers on Facebook, 485,000 on Twitter, 280,000 on Google+, 48,000 on Instagram, 55,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Lead on all content output from recreational cricket and other international teams with the aim of helping grow the game at all levels
- Demonstrate leadership with outstanding qualities across all the disciplines: video journalism and editing, news and features, photographic selection and editing, content updates within ECB’s content management systems and across all ECB’s social channels
- Interpret usage data supplied by Analytics Manager to constantly improve ECB’s content output and user/viewing metrics
- Lead editor for recreational cricket producing and directing all social, editorial, audio, photographic and video content
- Ensure that the ECB are the first for recreational cricket news
- Create unique and exclusive features
- Work closely with freelance Digital Video Producers to script and produce high quality video suitable for all ECB and 3rd party distribution channels
- Build and develop trust and respect within the organisation and across the counties
- Work closely with key Partners of the ECB to create high quality content
- Keep all content fresh and unique through innovation with the aim of transforming the ECB into a destination for cricket news and features
- Assist in forward content planning around major events, competitions and series, and scheduling of all other production requirements across ECB’s channels to satisfy both the forward content plan and ad-hoc internal demands
- Carry out in-depth research to a broad brief, with minimal supervision, into audience, story subjects and platform requirements

Person Specification
- At least three years in a content role within a digital environment, ideally within sport and with a grassroots bias
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of cricket
- Have a journalistic background, including considerable experience of digital content production
- Multi-skilled across video, copy and audio production
- Experience of using a variety of content management systems and familiarity with production techniques across all leading social media channels
- A passion for new and emerging platforms and editorial techniques
- Confident and at ease working in a highly pressurised environment and dealing with players, team management, leading officials, and sports participants at all levels
- Ability to lead and inspire a team spread and the ability to multiple tasks in multiple locations
- Excellent writing skills are essential, as is the potential to originate and develop stories
- Good organisational skills
- Experience of working with Photoshop
- Capable of building trust and respect across the business
- Ability to work co-operatively
- Attention to detail is a must
- A keen self-starter
- Comfortable with educating people in and outside the ECB
