CRICKET JOBS: General Manager - Shropshire CB (UK)

Shropshire Cricket Board (SCB) is wishing to recruit an experienced and highly motivated General Manager.

Salary up to £38k per annum plus expenses

 

 The SCB has the fundamental aim of facilitating and supporting both the playing and development of cricket at all levels and age groups in Shropshire.

The Role:

  • Lead all activity undertaken by the SCB providing the key link between the Board and both the ECB and other cricket partners
  • Has overall responsibility for the day to day Board activities including governance and the line management and supervision of all members of the delivery team
  • To identify the targeted priorities of the Board and co ordinate delivery with the team
  • Be the primary link between the SCB Directors and the delivery team
  • Setting realistic and achievable budgets, obtaining Directors approval, monitoring and controlling expenditure to ensure there is no overspend
  • Monitoring and evaluating all Board activity taking and recommending improvement actions as appropriate
  • Leading the development of commercial opportunities for the Board
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with SCB partners including and not limited to Governing Bodies, Leagues, Local Authorities, County Sports Partnership
  • Ensure that the SCB facilities strategy is developed and maintained to meet current and future needs
  • Work closely with any appointed externally agencies who may assist with fundraising and grant development applications
  • Ensure that support is given to clubs and leagues with data collection and customer insight to support needs and develop effective planning time for player and facility growth
  • Ensure that the Clubmark requirements, development planning, grant applications, relevant funding streams, facility development and workforce requirements including attracting volunteers, developing coaches, groundsman, umpires and scorers; for clubs is supported appropriately
  • Lead the team on the integration of coach education for clubs and schools in line with the ECBs coach education pathway
  • Ensure the activities of the Board are effectively and efficiently communicated both internally and externally, including the development, strategy update and maintenance of the SCB website and newsletter and any outgoing promotional material
  • Ensure that performance pathways and age group squads are in place, in line with Board strategy and structure; making sure that competitions and appropriate player development plans are in place. This includes an appropriate EPP for both girls and boys

  • Have a thorough knowledge base which is second nature; and able to impart knowledge without having to draw attention to it
  • Has the ability to develop clear coherent strategies that meet the overall aims and objectives of the Board
  • Ability to convert strategies into action and monitor the progress of activities and projects
  • Have a reflective nature with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances calmly and professionally, using sound business and commercial rationale if change is needed
  • Have a track record of a sound commercial and financial acumen; capable of creating and developing opportunities to improve the financial standing of the Board
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, in any format with the ability to ensure that messages given reach where they are intended for, and are understood
