CRICKET JOBS: Graduate Sports Person in Residence - Kingston Grammar School

GRADUATE SPORTSPERSON IN RESIDENCE

Kingston Grammar School requires for September 2014, a Graduate Sportsperson in Residence to work within our extensive sports department for one academic year. 
 
REQUIREMENTS
- Completed degree (does not have to be a sports degree)
- High level representation in a major sport/s at the school (Hockey, Rowing, Cricket, Football and/or Tennis).
- Ability to coach and umpire at least one of the above sports at all age levels 
- A sense of humour
- An excellent work ethic

 
JOB DESCRIPTION
 
The duties and responsibilities of the Graduate Sportsperson in Residence are subject to individual agreement rather than any collective arrangement.
 
Specific duties include the following, but are not exclusive, as advised under the General Conditions of Employment:
 
1. Coaching Games lessons every afternoon as well as evening trainings
2. Taking charge of a team and umpiring/refereeing fixtures in a major/minor sport/s
3. Assisting with the delivery of Physical Education (PE) classes
4. Carrying out a coach duty each day from the London Road campus to Ditton Field
5. Covering classes for absent colleagues
6. Updating notice boards weekly around the school
7. General administration duties to support the PE, Sports Studies and Games Departments
8. Assisting with the administration and running of house sporting events
9. Confirming fixtures with other schools on behalf of Heads of Games
10. Ensuring that the First Aid room at Ditton Field is kept stocked up on a weekly basis
 
MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE
 
The Graduate Sportsman and Sportswoman in Residence are responsible to the Director of Sport for all department/teaching/coaching and routine day to day matters and to the Bursar for all personal and contractual matters. 
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
 
General Conditions of Employment are set out in the General Terms of Employment Statement.  Certain specific conditions relating to the Graduate Sportsman and Sportswoman in Residence are:
 
HOURS OF WORK
 
The average working week will be 40 hours.  An example of working hours is set out below:
 
· 8:30am to 1.00pm three days a week (13.5 hours)
· 1.00pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday (25 hours)
· 2/3 hours on a Saturday as agreed with the Director of Sport (2/3 Hours)
 
On occasions, the Graduate Sportsperson in Residence will be expected to be flexible and work such hours to efficiently discharge his/her duties within the overall hours as agreed between the Director of Sport.
 
When necessary, and following agreement with the Director of Sport, overtime will be paid in accordance with the general conditions of employment.
 
There may also be opportunities for those in position to gain further vocational qualifications such as coaching awards and potentially for suitable candidates to complete his/her respective teaching qualification/s.
 
HOLIDAYS
 
Rates of pay includes a proportional entitlement to holidays.  Holidays will not be taken during term time unless otherwise agreed in exceptional circumstances.  
 
SALARY
 
The rate of pay will be based on a 40 hour working week at £1,053.40 per month for 10 months, subject to any cost of living increase or adjustment to the minimum wage.  The school also provides subsidised accommodation.  The current rate is £139.00 per month which may be adjusted for cost of living increments or adjustment to the minimum wage rules.
