Marketing and Customer Engagement Executive – for leading sports club based in Yorkshire
Salary: competitive (full-time role)
The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is looking to recruit a Marketing and Customer Engagement Executive to assist in the development of the club’s marketing and customer engagement strategy. The role will also help to retain and develop the customer base, in order to maximise revenue and profitability, whilst simultaneously developing the relationship with our customers.

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of the most illustrious sports clubs in the world. With over 150 years of history and an enviable record both on and off the field, Yorkshire is one of the 18 major county clubs, which make up the English County game.
Yorkshire are the most successful team in English cricket history with 33 County Championship titles – the Club’s last title success coming in 2014. Its home, Headingley Cricket Ground, is one of the major cricket venues in the country with international cricket guaranteed at the venue until at least 2019.
Main role:
To ensure that Yorkshire County Cricket Club customer service policy and relevant communication channels are accurate, fresh and appealing to customers.
- To ensure that the needs of customers are being satisfied.
- Providing excellent customer service and to promote this ethos throughout the entire organisation.
- Finding ways to measure customer satisfaction and improve services
- Develop a proactive customer based charter with the customer needs at the heart of the organisation
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Customer Service
- Providing help and advice to customers using the organisation’s products or services.
- Communicating courteously with customers by telephone, email, letter and face to face.
- Investigating and solving customer enquiries, which may be complex or long-standing.
- Assisting Head of Media with the development and implementation of a customer charter to be rolled out in early 2016.
- Keeping accurate records of discussions or correspondence with customers.
- Improving customer service procedures, policies and standards across the organisation.
- Meeting with other employees and managers to discuss possible improvements to customer service.
Marketing & Communications
- Responsible for developing and enhancing the club’s matchday experience – at all cricket matches played at Headingley and Scarborough with major emphasis on a modern fresh approach to domestic T20 matches.
- Assist in the development and the populating of content on the club’s official website, ensuring well-written and interesting content.
- Assist with the marketing of all the Club’s products and services.
- Help develop and deliver the Club’s social media strategy.
- Work with the commercial team to develop promotional and marketing campaign concepts, particularly with the implementation of the Club’s Partners promotional initiatives.
- To assist CRM Manager in developing campaign creative for weekly newsletter updates.
Skills, knowledge and qualifications required:
You will be an excellent communicator, both verbally and written. Good time management and IT literacy skills are essential, with the ability to work as part of a team, sharing your knowledge and ideas.
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject area.
- A good understanding and knowledge of the professional sports industry and the role that marketing plays within that sector.
- An interest in cricket.
- Passionate about good customer service and implementing that across the business.
- Able to communicate confidently at all levels with other members of staff, suppliers and customers.
- Be able to work as part of a team but also have the ability to work on own initiative.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Plenty of enthusiasm and excellent communication skills.
- A self-motivated and proactive approach.
- Ability to juggle and execute multiple projects.
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office.
- An understanding of the Adobe Creative Cloud is desirable, but not essential.
